What does the Proper Upper Body Workout look like?

By: Ford Wilder

There are many different ways you can train your upper body whether it is to look more aesthetically pleasing, become more explosive, etc. Although there are plenty of workouts to follow, there is one way that is superior to all. This way combines lifting for aesthetics and explosiveness, making you both more athletic and better looking. This is called upper body power training. I have trained aesthetically for the upper body before but became less athletic and stiffer although I filled my body out quicker. I have also trained solely explosively where I became quicker and more athletic in my upper body, but I did not gain any muscle hardly. This is where power training comes into play so you can pair both training styles together.

I noticed the greatest strides in my training and performance when I switched over to this style of lifting. I do not train back and biceps or chest and triceps together like a bodybuilder would. Instead, I train my whole upper body together in each session which includes the chest, back, shoulders, biceps, and triceps. I can hit my whole upper body at least twice a week without having to spend 4 or 5 days to effectively hit each muscle group. That is what a bodybuilder does, and that is why they are not athletic and instead stiff.

Furthermore, making sure to pair the right exercises together in this form of training is vital. I prefer to pair exercises together one after the other going from a push to a pull movement. By pairing push and pull exercises you stabilize and balance your muscles instead of progressing your push or pull movements too far ahead of one another. Also, by pairing push and pull movements together, you can create a heavier workload since there is less fatigue after each exercise due to the different muscles being worked in the movements.

One may ask, “What does this look like in a workout form?” In my workouts or what my strength coach provides this could be bench press paired with pull-ups or tricep press paired with hammer curls. In a power-based upper body session, you do not just lift weights. You add in things with your lifts such as med ball throws and core/trunk exercises. These accessory movements are what build the explosiveness and quickness when paired correctly with strength movements. I typically do two to three core or med ball movements with my strength exercises to build up the most explosiveness I can. Ultimately, I believe that people should reap the benefits of upper-body power training instead of dealing with the consequences that come with both aesthetic and solely explosive upper-body training. I have noticed a great deal of benefits to come along with this way of training my upper body and I believe this style of training is what many are missing.

Who Will Win the Super Bowl

By: Stirling Tindal

The 56th Super Bowl is this Sunday and the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are sitting at a record of 14-3 and have by far the best running back in the league. The Chiefs have a 15-2 record and really don’t have any outstanding players this year, but Patrick Mahomes and Andy Ried always find a way to win games.

I believe that this will be a close game with a higher score because of both teams’ explosive offenses. By the end of the first quarter I predict that the score will be 10-7 Eagles. Saquon will start off hot because the Chiefs won’t fully know how to stop him; however after the first quarter they will figure things out.

At half time it will be tied 17-17 with the second quarter ending with a last second Chiefs field goal. Both teams will have a great first half with many yards on offense. The key to winning the second half is who is disciplined enough to stop either of these offenses consistently.

Entering the third quarter, I believe that whichever team receives the ball will have a huge turnover in the red zone on the opening drive. It won’t be a super thrilling third quarter and the score will be 24-17 Chiefs. At this point Andy Reid will have figured out how to stop Saquon, getting rid of the Eagles X-factor. With our Saquon controlling the game, the Eagles won’t be able to get anything going.

In the fourth quarter, the key to winning the game will be turnovers. Both teams will need to hold on to the ball and not make dumb decisions. The game will most certainly come down to the wire. I predict there will be two touchdown scoring drives by both teams in the final two minutes. The Chiefs will have the first touchdown in the two minutes, thinking they can hold on to the lead. Jalen Hurts will then lead the Eagles offense down the field in a final 30 seconds drive to win the game 34-31.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will not be able to three-peat and Jalen Hurts and the Eagles will start a new dynasty.

Super Bowl Predictions

By: Cooper Scott

My Super Bowl predictions are the Chiefs are going to beat Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, also predict some of the betting lines. The first betting line is that the national anthem will go under 2 minutes. The opening kickoff will be a touchback. Taylor Swift will be shown on camera more than 4 times. I will also predict that the eagles will get the ball first. The first quarter on the opening drive of the game after the eagles get two first downs Jalen Hurts will throw an interception to Trent Mcduffie on the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes will get his first drive of the Super Bowl and take his team down the field and Harrison Butker will kick a field goal and make it. The eagles will get on offense once again and Jalen Hurts is going to throw a Touchdown pass to Devonta smith. The Chiefs are going to go three and out and that is the end of the first quarter. On the Eagles opening Drive of the second quarter Saquon is going to tote the rock all the way down the field and the Eagles will settle for a field goal. So with 9 minutes to go in the 2nd Quarter the score is Eagles 10 Chiefs 3. The Chiefs are going to have a long drive all the way down the field and will score a touchdown with Travis Kelce. Jalen Hurts will have 2 minutes and is going to go down the field and the eagles will settle for a field goal. The score at halftime will be 10- 13 Eagles. The opening drive of the third quarter the chiefs are going to go all the down the field and score a touchdown with Isiah Pacheco. The Eagles are going to throw an interception, and the and the chiefs are going get a field goal and go up 20 to 13. The Eagles are going to go three and out, and the chiefs are going to throw an interception, and there will be a big momentum swing. Saquon Barkely breaks a 40 yard touchdown run and that’s the end of the 3rd quarter. Both the Chiefs and Eagles next drives end with a three and out, and the Chiefs get the ball and Xavier Worthy scores a touchdown ,and the Eagles will get a field goal. So with 5 minutes left the score is 30-27 the eagles. The Chiefs will get the ball and come to a 4th and 11 and throw up a deep ball and get a pass interference. Patrick Mahomes will run for a touchdown and the Chiefs will go up 34-30. Jalen Hurts will choke and throw an interception and the Chiefs will win the Superbowl.

Vinland Saga Review

By: Wyatt Meyers

Because of its full story, exciting action, and remarkable character development, Vinland Saga is one of the greatest anime ever made. Compared to many other action anime, it looks at the meaning of life, issues, and personal growth rather than just fighting and getting even. The fact that Thorfinn is not given a chance to kill Askeladd is one of the most important scenes in the series. Thorfinn’s life is completely changed by it, which makes him one of the most completed characters in anime.

Thorfinn is driven by anger and payback at the start of the Vinland Saga. When he was a child, he saw Askeladd kill his father, Thors. His only goal is to kill Askeladd in an even fight from then on. But Askeladd is more skilled and strong, and he consistently outfights Thorfinn while taking advantage of him. Thorfinn waits for the day to take revenge, following Askeladd like a stench for years. However, it is taken away from him when the time comes. Thorfinn is lost after someone else kills Askeladd.q

The Vinland Saga’s second season shows Thorfinn’s change following Askeladd’s death. He has a need to work for his existence as a slave rather than as a warrior. He meets another slave named Einar during this time, who teaches him the meaning of life. Thorfinn gradually discovers that there are other ways to live besides fighting. He begins to believe in building a world closer to his father’s original goal, free from suffering and war.   As he changes from a warrior wanting punishment to a man wanting peace, Thorfinn becomes one of the most interesting characters in anime.

In conclusion, Vinland Saga’s character growth and plot make it a top-tier animation. Revenge is not the solution, as shown by Thorfinn’s exciting and actual path. Instead, it is only when he chooses to let go of his hatred and make the decision to change things that his life takes on meaning. Because of this, Vinland Saga is not simply a great animation but also a classic.

What is the Best Streaming Service

By: Braelen Lewis

Netflix - App on Amazon Appstore

What is the best streaming service is a pretty hard question to answer because of the price and variety of shows. Of course the streaming services that are in the debate of the best are Netflix, amazon prime, Hulu, or HBO Max. Some people argue that it’s Netflix due to the good originals they make and others argue that it’s the cheaper price that makes it so enjoyable but in my opinion Netflix is not the best because it doesn’t have a large selection of shows like other platforms. Others argue that HBO is the best because of the great originals that it has like Game of Thrones and many others but in my eyes it is too expensive and although it has the good originals it doesn’t have access to a lot of the larger shows. Amazon Prime in my eyes falls short to number two on my list because although it costs quite a bit it has almost every show and movie that the others have with the addition of many great originals like Invincible. It falls to my number two however because yes they have almost every show available to watch a lot of the good ones cost extra to either rent or buy the rights to watch it. My number one streaming service is Hulu because although it doesn’t have many good originals they have like every show and movie available and I know that it isn’t really fair to the other services but Hulu is connected with Disney Plus and HBO, so you can pay extra and watch everything available on Hulu while also having access to every Disney piece and HBO originals. Although technically not everyone that has Hulu has access to HBO and Disney since it is an option through the app I’m counting it. This is why Hulu is the best choice for all new gen’s when it comes to deciding which streaming service to buy this is due to the fact that people could save so much money by just watching shows through Hulu with the addition of the add ons this would make it where people won’t have to waste money on other streaming services.

Reasons for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Victory in Super Bowl LVIII

By Tyler Jordan

As anticipation for Super Bowl LVIII grows, the Kansas City Chiefs are in a position to create history once more. The Chiefs have everything they need for another championship run, including an outstanding roster, a head coach with a clear vision, and a starting quarterback who is rapidly claiming his place among the greatest in football history.

Patrick Mahomes is the dog behind Kansas City’s success. Perhaps the NFL’s most captivating player is who is currently MVP of the Super Bowl. He stands out from other quarterbacks due to their capacity to execute accurate throws from any platform under pressure. Mahomes is almost tough to defend because of his strategic skills, arm power, and mobility. Very few teams can match the Chiefs advantage under Mahomes’ leadership.

Also It is impossible to overestimate Andy Reid’s impact on the The Chiefs, one of the most successful and highly regarded coaches in NFL history. The foundation of Reid’s creative offensive strategies is flexibility and unpredictableness, which keeps opposition defenders guessing. The Chiefs’ success may be attributed in large part to its ability to adapt and make judgments during play that create scoring opportunities.

Additionally, Reid has constantly readied his squad for the most important situations. With his leadership skills and coaching experience in several Super Bowls, the Chiefs are prepared to manage pressure when it counts most.

The Chiefs have a roster full of talented players on both sides of the ball, even though Mahomes frequently takes center stage. One of the greatest tight ends of all time, Travis Kelce, is still Mahomes’ top target because he can cause mismatches everywhere on the field. With their big-play potential, the Chiefs’ wide receivers, such as Marquez Valdes-Scantling and the quick and elusive Kadarius Toney, put pressure on defenses.

Kansas City has improved in recent seasons on defense. The Chiefs can cause turnovers and disrupt opposing quarterbacks with players like Chris Jones leading the charge in the trenches. In addition to its offensive prowess, this well-rounded club can make game-changing plays on defense just as well.

Overall I say the Chiefs will win because they are used to this environment and have the coaching and players that can handle this stressful game.

Who Will Win The Super Bowl?

By: Henry Jones

The Super Bowl trophy is one of the most coveted awards in all of sports. Some would eve say that it is the greatest accomplishment. This upcoming Super Bowl will definitely be a great matchup between two formidable teams. If I’m being honest I really don’t want either of them to win because I hate the Chiefs and the Eagles. It’s a tough call, but if I had to guess, I’d say it could be a close game. The Eagles have a strong, well-rounded team with a solid defense and an explosive offense. But the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes, and he’s always a threat. If Mahomes stays healthy and plays at his best, the Chiefs might have the edge. But overall, it could go either way depending on how the game plays out.

The Eagles could win the Super Bowl because they have a really strong all-around team. Their defense is tough and able to put pressure on quarterbacks, which could be a key factor against the Chiefs. Their offense is also high-powered, with Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley playing at an MVP-level, and they have great weapons like A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Plus, the Eagles have a strong offensive line that helps with both the running and passing game, making it tough for any defense to stop them. If they play solid, mistake-free football and control the line of scrimmage, they could come out on top.

On the other hand the Chiefs could win the Super Bowl because they have Patrick Mahomes, one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and he can make incredible plays under pressure. Even when things aren’t going perfectly, Mahomes can turn a game around with his arm and playmaking ability. On top of that, the Chiefs have an explosive offense with weapons like Travis Kelce, who is a big mismatch for any defense. Their defense has also stepped up in key moments, and if they can limit mistakes and take advantage of their opportunities, they could definitely win. Mahomes’ ability to perform in clutch moments is a huge reason they might come out on top.

Best NBA dynamic duo

By: Bryce Hanson

Dynamic duos have been one of the main faces in the league since the 80s and we’ve seen some special ones across the decades. Dynamic duos just bring an exciting mix to the league and prove two is better than one.

I’m not going to just read off their stats to you because that would just be boring, no I’m going to give you my 17 year old opinion about this. Now the oldest duo I can remember is the Magic Johnson and Kareem on the magic back in the 80s.This duo became the face of the league and really brought most of the NBA’s fans into the league. The exciting young Magic paired up with the vet Kareem created a duo like pb and j.

The next duo I think of after the Magic and Kareem duo is the Jordan and Pippen duo. I’m sure a lot of the older generation will agree with me on this one. I believe that because this is when they were young teenagers and that is when basketball is at it’s peak for you to watch. This duo will echo in eternity not only for their success in the finals but also because one of the GOATS is in this duo. Yes Scottie was a great player but that success in the finals would not have happened without the main man Micheal Jordan. He carried this duo which is why in my opinion, this is not one of the best.

Last one of the duos I was not alive for, is Kobe and Shaq. These two butted heads the entire time they were together. Which speaks to how much they were like brothers. Unlike the Bulls duo, this pair was not one sided at all. Kobe was making his name be known as one of the greatest, while Shaq was already known as one of the best. Their success just showed that all the off court nonsense didn’t matter in the real game.

Finally the duo that is my personal favorite, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Before the Jordan and Pippen fans get mad, you have to remember what I said. I’m a young teenager and this duo was at it’s peak when basketball was at its peak for me. This duo not only one championships together but became known as the best shooting duo of all time. Reviving the toughest name I’ve ever heard, “The Splash Brothers”. If that name itself doesn’t send shivers down your spine then wait to hear the leaders of this duo. Stephen Curry is the best shooter of all time and my opinion the best player of all time. I didn’t say greatest, but I said best. The other splash brother, Klay Thompson is arguably the second best shooter of all time, which shows this duo is not as one sided as people think.

Overall, through all these years of amazing duos being in the league, my opinion points towards the Splash brothers being the greatest NBA duo of all time.

My Favorite Things: High School Classes

By: Addie Griffin

My classes this year are a mixture between fun and rigor. I have my top 3 hardest classes to start off my day and then my day gets a little easier from there. Today, I will be ranking my top 3 favorite classes.

To start off, my third favorite class is chemistry. Chemistry helps us understand how the world works. It shows us how everything is made up and how things combine to make up everything we see, touch, and use. Another reason I like chemistry is because Coach Mccord teaches you much more than just chemistry. He teaches you all about life and its lessons and makes you really think deeply about all kinds of things. We also do fun lab experiments and it is full of surprises. One time we did a lab and filled a balloon with hydrogen and held a flame to it. This reaction caused the balloon to burst into flames. This is why chemistry is one of my favorite classes.

To continue, my second favorite class is ceramics. I began taking this class my freshman year of high school and have loved it ever since. This class lets me show my creativity through using clay. I have made countless projects and have even made money from selling them. I also love to talk to Mrs. Brown about different things and get her opinions on my pieces.  She gives us different projects to work on throughout the year and always is determined to challenge us in a fun way. She always tests my creative abilities and makes all of us work hard on our projects. This is why ceramics is one of my favorite classes.

Finally, my favorite class is Digital Media. In digital media, I get the opportunity to create videos and content with all of my friends. In this class we have a lot of freedom with what we can do and what content we would like to create. In this class my friends and I usually like to interview little kids and ask them funny questions. The freedom and creativity we get to have is what I enjoy the most about this class.

My Running Back take

By: Milling Galloway

Many people are not going to agree with my take, but it’s time I let the sports world hear it. When I first told a couple of my friends about it, I received a bunch of hate. As you can tell the man at the top of the screen is Jahmir Gibbs. He in my opinion is the best running back in the National Football League. Many may jump to conclusions. A lot of people think Saquon and Henry clearly are better. Although some stats show that, Gibbs is in a two back system and splits carries and still puts up stats that most single back fields could only dream for. This falls into my next part of my argument, David Montgomery is not an elite running back. He gets put in on goal line situations where of course he is going to score. You can clearly see that when he gets runs he just doesn’t have the touch. It could just be that he has gotten older. When Gibbs gets the carries he explodes for massive amounts of yards and touchdowns every game. His first quick steps and explosiveness gives him a clear edge on all running backs. His top end speed is also very exciting to watch, its mind blowing. He has the most touchdowns in the league and that is why. If he had the back field all to himself, I could easily see him rushing for the most yards and scoring the most. The Lions organization should really look into selling David and getting more horsepower for that Offensive line. I don’t really understand why this take gets so much hate. Henry has the best quarterback and offensive scheme. Barkley has the best Offensive line and great receivers. Gibbs only has a pretty good Offensive line. Every team keys in on him and still he puts up crazy numbers and crazy plays. I truly do think Gibbs is and will be the best in the League, just give him a couple of years he is only 22.The ceiling is so high for this young man and I am so excited to see what he will do in the future.
