Sunshine v Rain

By: Campbell Cromer

Many people love the peace and coziness of a rainy day, but no one can say that sunny days are not the obvious winner when it comes to weather. Warm, sunny, and full of life, sunshine has many benefits that make life improved and fun.

First of all, sun makes us happy. Sunlight naturally rises our levels of serotonin which does a great job promoting cheerfulness as well as loosing tension. So, sunny days are more stimulative and intriguing in comparison with drizzly and dull days. People feel healthier and even more sociable as long as there is sunshine, leading to the happiness of  living.

Sunny days also encourage outdoor activity. Whether a morning run, lunch in the park, or a day at the beach, the possibilities for exercise and enjoyment are are never ending. Rainy days, on the other hand keep people indoors, limiting exercise and activity’s .

Also, sunlight also carries vitamin D which is essential to our body’s, making bones denser and strengthening our immune systems. Only a couple minutes in the sun each day can benefit our health, whereas several rainy days may cause vitamin D deficiency.

Lastly, sunny weather is refreshing and cheerful. It is easy to plan events, travel, and live life when there is no chance of being soaked in the rain. While rain is important for nature, too much rain can lead to flooding and unexpected disruption.

In the fight between sunny and rainy days, sunshine clearly wins. It lifts moods, improves wellness, and makes daily life more lively and playfully.

Cats v Dogs Debate

By: Campbell Cromer

The never ending debate between dog lovers and cat lovers continues with which pet is better, dogs or cats. The answer is, it depends on personal preferences, lifestyle, and what you’re looking for in a pet.

Dogs are often known for their strong loyalty and affection towards their owners. They are known as “man’s best friend,” they thrive on companionship and form deep bonds with their owners. Dogs are very trainable and do great in tasks like fetching, guarding, or even providing their owners emotional support. Their energy makes them great for active people who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and running. Many dog breeds also can be a security to homes, due to their protective nature. However, dogs require a lot of time and effort to own. They need regular walks, a lot of training as a puppy, grooming, and they need to have social interaction to remain happy and healthy.

Cats on the other hand, are known for their independence and being low maintenance. They’re best for people with busy lives, as they’re more than happy being alone for hours at a time. Cats are clean animals, and are trained to use litter boxes and they groom themselves regularly. Their playful yet calm personalities makes them excellent indoor pets, especially for people who live in apartments. Cats can also be loving, often cuddling up on your lap or purring to show that they are happy. However, they can be more antisocial compared to dogs, and their independence may not appeal to everyone.

Deciding between a dog and a cat comes down to your personality and life. If you’re looking for an active, loyal pet who lives off of attention and adventure, a dog will be your best choice. If you prefer a pet that’s independent, low-maintenance, and enjoys quieter owners, a cat could be the way to go.

Both dogs and cats bring a lot of joy and unique features to a home. Whether you walk into your house and are greeted by a happy dog or a purr, one thing will always remain: pets will always make your  life better. It all comes down to which one fits your personal needs.

Is Honesty always the best policy?

By: Campbell Cromer

It is often said that honesty is the best policy, and honesty is considered one of the basic rules of life. But is honesty always the best policy? Yes, there are times where full disclosure is scary and can be dangerous to use, but honesty it means to create relationships and build trust among people and to help with personal growth and development.

First, honesty inspires trust. We demonstrate reliability to the people around us when we are honest. Trust forms a perfect foundation for meaningful relationships, whether personal, professional, or anything else. It is very difficult to regain trust it has been destroyed by dishonesty. What may seem like a harmless white lie in the moment can easily fall into something much bigger and destroy both connection and reliability. Honesty, on the other hand, fosters transparency, making others to feel safe with you and confident in your words.

While honesty is widely valued, there are instances where dishonesty can have a positive purpose. Some white lies, for example, can save relationships or spare someone unnecessary pain. In dangerous and high stake situations, such as protecting others from harm, dishonesty would be the best choice. Similarly, small lied can maintain harmony, like complimenting a friend’s efforts even if they aren’t the best. Though honesty remains the best option, thoughtful dishonesty, used very rarely, can sometimes show kindness, safety, or compassion but that is very rarely true.

Some people argue that dishonesty can sometimes spare feelings or avoid conflict. However, lies often bring unintended consequences, creating larger issues in the long run. Even when the truth hurts, it allows for thought and resolution. Lies, by contrast, trap us in a life of discomfort and lies.

Ultimately, honesty is about integrity not just in how we treat others, but also in how you live with yourselves. A life built on truth, even with  challenges, is far more worth living than one covered in lies and deceit. Honesty isn’t just the best policy; it’s the only path to real connection and a long lasting life of personal growth.

Video Games v Board Games

By: Campbell Cromer

In a world where screens are everywhere, board games stand as a refreshing way to build real connections and creativity. While video games may draw people in with their graphics and interesting storylines, they often fall short in having genuine human interaction. Board games bring people together in ways video games cannot.

The experience of rolling dice, moving pieces, or shuffling cards intrigues our senses in a way that screens never can. Board games are a bare way of creating face-to-face interaction and encouraging genuine conversation. Whether you’re pretending to make your way to victory or planning to team up to take someone down, these games encourage skills like negotiation, teamwork, and real-world abilities that go beyond video games.

Video games, despite all the technological wonders, are very isolating for kids. Even in multiplayer mode, players often play at home, interacting through headphones. The atmosphere of online gaming can create toxicity, whereas board games create real friends and you can share laughter.

Above all, board games are ageless. They don’t go away throughout the years whereas when the next console comes out or a new software update it’s all about the next best thing. They are good for all ages and skill levels, offering an equal chance for you to win when you or someone else plays with families, friends, and also strangers.

In the decision between video games, board games are the best way to build a genuine connection and have fun face to face.

Electric v Gas Cars

By: Campbell Cromer

While electric cars are often said to be the future of transportation, there are several reasons why they may not be the best choice for everyone or even the environment. First, electric vehicles are often advertised as zero-emission, but this doesn’t tell everything. The electricity required to charge electric vehicles is still largely produced by fossil fuels, so while they may not emit pollutants directly, they still contribute to the carbon emissions indirectly. Also, the production of the high powered batteries, which power electric vehicles relies on mining rare metals like cobalt and lithium. Mining these resources is harmful to the environment and often raises issues around labor practices.

Electric vehicles are also greatly less convenient than their gas-powered parts. While the number of charging stations is expanding, it still falls in comparison to the accessibility of gas stations. Charging an electric vehicle takes significantly longer than filling up a gas car, even with the newest fast-charging stations . For people who drive long distances or don’t have access to home charging setups, this can be a major challenge to the owners of electric vehicles. There is something called range anxiety where people are scared to run out of charge while on the road. Range anxiety is real, and running out of charge is a larger problem to solve than running out of gas.

The upfront cost of an electric vehicle is often higher than the price of a traditional gas car. While people argue that electric vehicles save money on fuel and maintenance, these savings are generally seen over a long period of time, and not everyone drives enough to see the benefits.

Finally, gas cars have just a little over a century of engineering on them. They are efficient, reliable, and adaptable. Electric vehicles might be new and what everyone wants, but their effects, hidden environmental impact, and high cost make them a questionable option when buying a new car for the average driver today. Gas cars on the other hand, remain a practical and dependable option no matter what.

Global Warning

By: Campbell Cromer

Global warming is the biggest challenge of our time, and its impacts are impossible to ignore. For years, scientists have tried to tell us about the steady rise in global temperatures, and now we’re witnessing its effects firsthand. Longer and more intense heatwaves, wildfires, and rising sea levels that are threatening coastal communities. Yet, despite the clear signs, it often feels like we’re not acting fast enough.

I can’t help but feel upset by the slow response from governments and big businesses. Yes, there are promises of transitioning to renewable energy, but the follow-through is weak. It’s shocking to me that in 2024, fossil fuels are still such a big part of our energy mix when we know they are speeding up the planet’s destruction. Every time I see headlines about yet another oil pipeline or a nation doubling down on coal, it feels like we’re going backward in a race against global warming.

However the blame doesn’t lie solely with big business and governments; it’s also about personal accountability. I’ve realized that we each have a role to play, even if our individual actions might seem small in the big picture. Whether it’s reducing plastic use, supporting sustainable brands, or supporting policy changes, our collective actions can create momentum.

The truth is, global warming isn’t some distant problem, it’s here. And it’s not just an environmental issue; it’s a social one. The people who are least responsible for climate change are often the ones suffering the most. That’s why fighting global warming isn’t just about saving the planet, it’s about the people that live here too. It’s time we stop treating it like a side issue and start acting like our future depends on it. Because it does. If we don’t start fighting against global warming there could be devising outcomes.

Benefits of Animals for Families

By: Campbell Cromer

Pets and animals can have a very big and positive impact on families, offering emotional, physical, and social benefits. Whether it’s a dog, a cat, or pets  like a hamster or bird, animals often become very loved members of the family, enhancing the household environment in various ways.

One of the most significant effects animals have on families is the emotional bond they carry. Pets are often a source of love and companionship, which can reduce feelings of being lonely, anxious, or even stressed. For children, caring for an animal teaches responsibility, empathy, and caring skills. These lessons help kids develop sympathy and foster stronger interpersonal relationships as they grow. Pets also provide emotional support during hard times, offering comfort when family members are facing difficult or stressful situations.

In addition to emotional well-being, pets also promote physical health. For example, dogs require regular exercise, which encourages families to participate in outdoor activities such as walking or playing in the yard. This can improve your heart health, reduce obesity, and encourage overall physical fitness. Even smaller animals, such as cats or rabbits, can lower blood pressure and reduce stress through just petting them.

It’s not only the family that could use the physical activity. Animals like dogs need to do stuff like play in the yard or go on walks because it is important to their mental and physical health. Animals, especially dog’s tend to get depressed when they sit inside all day with no activity’s .

It is also said that animals can strengthen family bonds. Pets often become the center of family activities, whether it’s playing, walking, or simply spending time together. This shared responsibility can encourage communication and teamwork within the household. Pet are also natural icebreakers, helping families form connections with others in their community, such as neighbors, fellow dog walkers, or people at the vet.

Overall, animals bring happiness, comfort, and life to a household, enhancing the family dynamic and improving the  life for everyone involved.

Private School Positives and Negatives

By: Campbell Cromer

Private schools offer a distinct alternative to public education, with both advantages and disadvantages depending on a student’s needs and family preferences.

One of the biggest advantages of private schools is smaller class sizes, which provides more personal attention. Teachers can focus on individual students’ strengths and weaknesses specific to each student. Another positive is enhanced resources. Most private schools have access to better resources, from newer technology to specialized programs in arts, athletics, and much more. This can enhance the overall educational experience of a private school education. There is also specialized Curriculums. Private schools often offer more specialized curriculum than public schools. Whether it’s a focus on college prep, the religious aspect, or arts and music, private schools can provide specialized educational experiences that align with a family’s views and a student’s interests. Another positive that could also be viewed as a negative is uniforms. Most private schools require uniforms. This could be viewed as a positive because students don’t have to worry about picking there clothes out so you don’t have to worry about getting picked on for what you wear. Some negatives of private school are high cost.

The biggest downside to private schools is the price. Tuition can be expensive, making it hard for many families to afford.  Scholarships  may be available, but not everyone can get them. Also there is less diversity. Private schools can sometimes lack the social and cultural diversity found in public schools. This can limit students exposure to different views and experiences, which are important in a well-rounded education. There are also limited extracurriculars. Some private schools, especially small ones, may have less extracurricular activities than public schools, potentially limiting opportunities for students interested in different activities outside of academics. Private school education offers significant benefits but also comes with difficulties. People should weigh these decisions carefully when choosing the best educational experience for their children.
