MLB Preview

By: Carson Wilsey

For baseball fans worldwide, the 2025 MLB season is looking to be an exciting year. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the new roster additions, trades, and intriguing prospects making their big league debuts as teams prepare for the upcoming season. In order to improve their offensive, add depth to their defensive groups, and boost their pitching rotations, teams made a number of high-profile offseason additions. The return of several of the league’s most dynamic players from injury, including great pitchers and power hitters, is one of the most exciting parts of the 2025 season. These players will be hoping to recover and reclaim their position as important contributors to their teams’ success.

The postseason race will likely be intense as usual. Teams with established stars and deep rosters, such as the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Atlanta Braves, continue to be the league favorites. Nonetheless, a number of up-and-coming teams, such as the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles, are hoping to advance and make a strong playoff run. Because more clubs will be able to compete for a position in October due to enlarged playoffs, the regular season is even more important. The division races will be fierce, particularly since some divisions appear to be as close as ever and a few significant victories could mean the difference between a wild card and a division title.

Beyond the team conflicts, the season’s plots will also heavily rely on individual players. There is always fierce competition for the MVP and Cy Young awards, and 2025 looks to be no exception. While seasoned veterans like Mike Trout and Mookie Betts are always a threat to regain the spotlight, young talents like Shohei Ohtani, Ronald Acuña Jr., and Julio Rodríguez will continue to dominate headlines. As the MLB continues to enact rule changes intended to quicken play and produce a more thrilling brand of baseball, the game’s evolution will also be important this season. With anything from new hitting approaches to altering laws, fans can expect lots of shocks during the season.

Best Steaks

By: Carson Wilsey

For good reason, the New York strip is regarded as one of the best steak cuts. This specific cut, which comes from the cow’s short loin, has the ideal ratio of flavor to tenderness. The New York strip has a rich, meaty flavor with just the perfect amount of marbling, in contrast to the ribeye, which is renowned for its fattiness, or the filet mignon, which occasionally lacks a strong beefy taste. The steak maintains its juicy and soft texture while maintaining its gratifying meaty flavor thanks to the marbling, which is the subtle strips of fat that run through the flesh. The texture is firm but soft when cooked to the ideal medium-rare, and the crispy exterior sear provides an enticing coating that seals in all the mouthwatering flavors.

The New York strip’s flexibility in preparation is another factor that makes it the greatest cut. The New York strip cooks well in a range of ways, including grilling, pan-searing, and broiled. The cut is sufficiently large to retain its juicy, soft interior while developing a crispy, delicious outer-layer. Its natural qualities are enhanced by a simple seasoning of salt and pepper, but it also goes well with a wide range of marinades, rubs, or sauces, such as a street taco seasoning or a traditional garlic and herbs. The steak offers versatility beyond the conventional steak because of its strong yet delicate texture, which also makes it a great option for thinly slicing and serving in recipes like fajitas or steak salads.

The New York strip is the perfect steak for both informal and formal eating because of the balance of size and presentation. The New York strip provides a generous serving without being overpowering, in contrast to some of the more flashy cuts, such the porterhouse or tomahawk steak. It is frequently cooked in a way that accentuates its soft texture and rich, savory flavor, and its size is ideal for a filling, substantial lunch without going overboard. The New York strip is always a tasty and satisfying supper, whether it is consumed at a fancy restaurant or prepared on the grill at home. It is the best cut because of its taste, texture, and adaptability.

WHY THE EAGLES?

By: Carson Wilsey

The Philadelphia Eagles are making their return, and they appear ready to win, so this year’s Super Bowl showdown is sure to be thrilling. The Eagles’ strong and well-rounded roster has been on full display throughout the season. With both his arm and his legs, quarterback Jalen Hurts has shown himself to be one of the league’s most dynamic athletes. Hurts has provided the Eagles an advantage that other teams have found difficult to match because of his ability to prolong plays and make critical decisions under stress. The Eagles are among the most powerful teams in the NFL in a significant way because of Hurts’ athleticism, poise, and development as a passer.

The Eagles’ defense, in addition to Hurts, is a key component of their chances of winning the Super Bowl. With exceptional players such as Jordan Davis,a beast of a d-lineman, among their roster, the team has an intimidating defensive line. One of the Eagles’ greatest strengths this season has been their ability to consistently put pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and this ability will be vital in the Super Bowl. Additionally, their defense is excellent at stopping the run and covering passes, which makes it hard for opponents to establish a rhythm. Philadelphia’s defense will be difficult for any offense to overcome because of its strong blend of youthful energy and experience, which enables them to contain some of the most electric teams.

The Eagles, led by head coach Nick Sirianni, are a well-coached group in addition to having outstanding athletic ability on the field. Sirianni has continuously placed his players in successful situations and demonstrated remarkable game management abilities, because of his innovative and flexible playcalling, the Eagles have been able to succeed in a variety of offensive and defensive schemes. Sirianni’s ability to remain composed under pressure will be essential during the Super Bowl, and his leadership has helped his players perform at their highest level. The Eagles are ready for victory because they have a quality squad, excellent coaching, and the capacity to perform well under pressure. They are destine to take down the Cheifs and end their hope at a three peatnin this year’s Super Bowl because of their  well-balanced roster and outstanding coaching.

CFB Playoff finale

By: Carson Wilsey

Although this college football season has been crazy and messed up, a national championship is now the only thing left to watch and win.  After falling to Northern Illinois, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are playing for everything after going on a run but the Buckeyes also look to carry on their incredible playoff run by stopping the Irish. Who will win?

The 12-team playoff also makes it clear that ND deserves to be here. They outplayed the formidable SEC Champions, crushed Indiana, and defeated the Big 10 runner-up. Ohio State also went on an incredible run blowing out Tennessee and Oregon but then keeping it close with Texas until pulling away in the end. That’s only the past three weeks. Having said that, many are looking forward to seeing two very hot teams compete for a national champisonship because this season has been a journey to say the least.

Is it impossible to beat Ohio State, no not at all shown by their horiffic lost to Michigan. Are they now playing as well as the top team in the country, yes probably so. Winning the turnover battle is Notre Dame’s greatest chance of winning. The Norte Dame secondary will most likely double team and attempt to lock down Jeremiah Smith but also have to shut down two of the best backs in the country with Treyvon and Quinshon Judkins, neither will be an easy task. Ohio State will also have a tough job in stopping the Norte Dame run game alongside another great back in Jeremiah Love. Osu and Norte Dame contain two of the best defenses in the country so everyone is looking forward to a defensive battle.

Regardless of the outcome, it won’t be their first time, Ohio State is competing for its second championship of the CFP era, while Notre Dame has won 11 national titles, but none since 1988. So who will come out on top will it be Jeremiah Smith along with his amazing freshman season or will Jeremiah Love show why he is truly one of the best running backs in the country.

Why Hire Belichick?

By: Carson Wilsey

The college football community went into shock when Bill Belichick was announced as the new head coach of the University of North Carolina (UNC) football program. Considering Belichick’s stellar NFL career, this decision might seem out of the ordinary. His hiring, however, might be just what UNC needs in the long run to elevate their football program to a championship level.

In the NFL, Bill Belichick left an unmatched legacy. Belichick showed year after year that he can assemble teams that are capable of winning championships, proven by his six Super Bowl victories, eight conference titles, and numerous division titles. At UNC, a team that has been chasing stability and elite-level excellence for years, this track record of success is desperately required. Efficiency, discipline, and a strategic attitude are the primary focus of Belichick’s team-building methods, and these characteristics will possibly help the Tar Heels compete with the best football teams in the country. UNC would gain an advantage in games that has been lacking for far too long thanks to Bill’s unmatched talent identity, system development, and in-game adjustments.

It speaks for itself that Belichick is regarded as a coach who turns players into elite NFL players. Numerous players, like Rob Gronkowski, Randy Moss, and Tom Brady, who thrived under Belichick’s coaching have gone on to have Hall of Fame careers. His straightforward style and emphasis on training and the basics may have a comparable impact at the collegiate level, assisting UNC’s athletes in becoming NFL-ready players. Building a successful college program requires attracting and developing elite players, and Belichick’s ability to teach the fundamentals while motivating players to reach their full potential could put UNC’s talent pool near the best in the nation.

Belichick’s ability to create a winning culture is among the key factors in his success. The New England Patriots gained a reputation for discipline, hard effort, and prioritizing team achievement over individual honors under his leadership. UNC’s football program might benefit greatly from this cultural change.

Best NFL Defense Ever

By: Carson Wilsey

Many believe the 2000 Baltimore Ravens defense to be the greatest defensive ever, and they are frequently regarded as one of the most dominant defenses in NFL history. This defensive unit’s head-hunting secondary, insane pass rush, and relentless, physical style of play overpowered the opponent’s offenses. The Ravens’ defense, led by defensive coordinator Marvin Lewis, gave up the fewest points in the NFL during the regular season only 165 points allowed. They gave up  2,866 yards, or 178.9 per game, to end the season as the top defense team. The Ravens’ exceptional defense allowed them to lead a struggling offense to a Super Bowl victory, cementing their place in history as one of the greatest defenses the NFL has ever seen.

At the heart of the Ravens’ defense was linebacker Ray Lewis, who was the leader of the unit and one of the most dominant defensive players in league history. Lewis was a factor in both the run game and the passing game, earning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award for his efforts. His sideline-to-sideline range, ability to read offenses, and hard hitting made him the centerpiece of a defense that was feared and respected by opponents. Alongside Lewis, players such as  linebacker Peter Boulware, cornerback Chris McAlister, and safety Rod Woodson contributed to a defense that was versatile, capable of both creating pressure up front and locking down receivers in the secondary. The Ravens’ defense not only had the talent to shut down opposing offenses, but they also had the ability to twist games through key turnovers, highlighted by their NFL leading 49 takeaways that season.

What set the 2000 Ravens apart from other legendary defenses was their postseason performance. In the playoffs, the Ravens’ defense was spectacular, shutting out the Miami Dolphins in the first round and allowing just 13 points in a dominant AFC Championship win over the Oakland Raiders. In Super Bowl XXXV, they faced the high-powered New York Giants offense and completely shut them down, holding them to just 152 total yards and 7 points, sealing a victory. The Ravens’ defense not only dominated the regular season but also performed on the biggest stage. The combination of talent, coaching, and the ability to rise up in big games is critical to solidifying the 2000 Baltimore Ravens as the best NFL defense of all time, an achievement that remains unparalleled in the league’s history.

Was 2019 LSU the greatest College Football Team ever?

By: Carson Wilsey

For many reasons, the 2019 LSU football team has been recognized as one of the greatest in college football history. The Tigers won a national championship versus Clemson with an outstanding 15-0 record under head coach Ed Orgeron’s coaching. This group not only changed the way collegiate football is played, but they also showed amazing talent and teamwork.

LSU’s exceptional offensive performance, led by Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow, was a major contributing factor to their excellence. With a record-breaking season people witnessed him throw for over 5,600 yards and 60 touchdowns, Burrow showcased off his ability to read defenses and deliver insane throws. Joe Brady, the offensive coordinator, created an offensive scheme that prioritized a fast-paced, dynamic approach that combined explosive passing plays with a powerful rushing game. LSU’s attack was difficult to stop because of its variety; they outscored their opponents every game and regularly put up incredible numbers.

LSU’s defense, which was essential in their championship run, was just as excellent. Throughout the season, the defense, led by players such as Derek Stingley Jr. and Grant Delpit, demonstrated both talent and grit. They frequently forced turnovers and made crucial stops, which gave the offense strong field position. This amazing balance between defense and offense was essential for LSU to maintain control of its games and adjust to the diverse challenges that different opponents presented.

Lastly, LSU’s outstanding schedule serves as more evidence of their dominance. The Tigers demonstrated their ability to execute under pressure by defeating several highly regarded teams, including Florida and Alabama. A strong defense, a difficult schedule, and historically high offensive output all work together to solidify the 2019 LSU football team’s legacy. Their accomplishments not only represented the height of college football, but they also established a standard that other teams would have to meet, motivating a new generation of players and supporters.

What If?

By: Carson Wilsey

Super Bowl XLIX, February 1, 2015, is well-known for its miraculous ending in the final seconds of play. With only 26 seconds remaining, the Seattle Seahawks were behind 28–24 and on the verge of losing. The Seahawks were positioned on the New England Patriots,1-yard line and it appeared as though they would win the game with a last-minute touchdown. With so much at risk, the play calling became crucial needing close examination and discussion.

Unexpectedly, Darrell Bevell, the offensive coordinator for Seattle, decided to call a pass play rather than running the ball. Considering how effectively running back Marshawn Lynch performs in situations involving short yardage, the selection was controversial. On the play, Malcolm Butler, the rookie cornerback for the Patriots who was about to make a name for himself, was covering wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, quarterback Russell Wilson dropped back to attempt a pass to Lockette. Butler, who had a terrific read on the play, jumped the route and made a huge interception to put the Patriots ahead for good. This play, which significantly changed the game’s outcome and gained the Patriots’ a 28-24 victory, was a turning point in both Super Bowl history and the game itself.

Considering Lynch’s strong presence on the field, many have questioned the decision to pass rather than run on the closing play of Super Bowl XLIX. In addition to demonstrating Butler’s defensive greatness, the interception highlighted the intense nature of the game and how any play or decision may result in history. The game’s storyline may be impacted by a single moment in sports, as seen by this play, which makes Super Bowl XLIX one of the most famous and controversial Super Bowls in NFL history.
