Why we need Physical Fitness

By: Owen Meyers

With more and more people becoming overweight every year, obesity is becoming a bigger problem in the US. Nearly 42% of American adults are obese, a percentage that has gradually increased over the previous few decades, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Poor food choices, inactivity, and irregular exercise are some of the causes of this concerning trend. To fight obesity and advance better health, it is imperative that we as a country place a higher priority on fitness and include more physical exercise in our everyday routines.Due to a lack of physical activity, many Americans gain weight and develop other health issues. With the development of desk jobs, technology, and convenience-based living, the average American lifestyle has become progressively less active, contributing to the obesity pandemic.Preventing chronic diseases is one of the main reasons we should exercise daily. Numerous health issues, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease, are associated with obesity. Exercise reduces the risk of these illnesses by strengthening the heart, lowering cholesterol, and assisting in blood sugar regulation. Regular exercise also increases metabolism, which makes it possible for the body to handle food more effectively and avoid gaining too much weight. Enhancing general quality of life is another compelling argument for making fitness a top priority. Engaging in physical activity boosts energy, improves stamina, and strengthens bones and muscles. This makes it possible for people to age independently and carry out everyday duties with ease. Exercise also enhances memory and sleep habits, which guarantees a clearer head and greater attention all day long.Americans need to strive to include exercise in their everyday routines in order to fight the obesity pandemic. Simple adjustments like walking or bicycling rather than driving short distances, using the stairs rather than the elevator, and scheduling time for organized exercise can have a big impact. Communities, workplaces, and schools should all support active lifestyles by offering resources and encouraging fitness programs. To sum up, America needs more exercise to boost public health and fight the rising obesity rates. People can improve their quality of life, lower their chance of developing chronic diseases, and help create a healthier society by making a commitment to regular physical activity. It’s time for us to put fitness first and do something about this worrying trend.

21 Jump Street Review

By Owen Meyers

When it comes to movies that always make me laugh, 21 Jump Street has to be one of the best. It’s absolutely hilarious, and the way it mixes ridiculous humor with a smart script is just perfect. Honestly, it’s one of those movies I can watch a hundred times and still crack up like it’s the first time.

The comedy in 21 Jump Street is next-level. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are an amazing duo, and their dynamic as Schmidt and Jenko is so ridiculous but somehow feels totally natural. Schmidt is the awkward nerd trying to act cool, and Jenko is the dumb jock who’s suddenly not on top anymore. Watching them try to survive undercover in high school—and fail miserably most of the time—is hilarious. Their attempts to fit in, deal with teen cliques, and balance their own insecurities are just endlessly funny.

What makes the movie even better is how self-aware it is. It doesn’t just rely on cheap jokes—it’s clever about how it plays with high school and action-comedy clichés. Like when Schmidt ends up being popular for being sensitive and eco-friendly, while Jenko struggles to find his place in the nerd crowd—it’s a brilliant twist on typical high school dynamics. Ice Cube as Captain Dickson is another highlight; he’s always yelling and roasting them, and it’s impossible not to laugh every time he’s on screen.

The script itself is one of the reasons 21 Jump Street works so well. The humor feels effortless, and the crazy situations the characters get into—like their drug trip scenes or the chaotic prom finale—are so well-written that they stay funny no matter how many times you watch. It’s not just dumb comedy; it’s smart in the way it handles its ridiculousness.

Overall, 21 Jump Street is just a great time. It’s hilarious, sharp, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. If you’re into movies that make you laugh out loud and leave you quoting lines for days, this one’s a must-watch. There is also a second one that people say is just as good as the first one. The second one is a similar style movie with the same actors but instead of them going undercover in high school they go to college. In my opinion you can’t beat 21 Jump Street but 22 Jump Street comes real close.

Christmas Joy

by: Owen Meyers

Because it blends joy, significance, and spending time with loved ones, Christmas is the greatest holiday. Every year, millions of people treasure this unique time of year.

Christmas is profoundly spiritual. It brings love and hope to Christians as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It’s an opportunity to think and express gratitude. The season is made more peaceful and meaningful by religious customs like attending church or watching the Christmas lights with your family. The holiday’s message of love and joy makes everyone feel included, including those who are not religious.

Being together is another aspect of Christmas. In addition to sharing food and gifts, families and friends get together to celebrate traditions like baking cookies, singing songs, and decorating the tree. People get closer during these times and make priceless memories. This time will never be forgotten because of the warmth, stories, and laughter that were shared.

This day encourages charity and kindness. People promote love, volunteer, and give to those in need. Giving, no matter how tiny, serves as a reminder of the value of taking care of others. Communities unite during this time to encourage one another and share happiness.

The delight is increased by the magical environment. Everything is made extra special by the scent of gifts, holiday music, and twinkling lights. Everyone loves to sit by the fire and open presents, and children eagerly await Santa Claus. The feeling of wonder is heightened by the splendor of snow-covered scenery and luminous decorations.

Because it’s all about love, happiness, and spending time with one another, Christmas is the greatest holiday. It’s a time to spread compassion everywhere and rejoice with the people who are most important to you. Christmas brings out the best in everyone, whether via customs, deeds of kindness, or just taking in the attraction of the season. It is a festival unlike any other, honestly deserving of its particular place in our hearts because of its unique blend of joy and meaning.

Football

By: Owen Meyers

American football is more than just a game—it’s a symbol of strength, strategy, and teamwork. From Friday night lights in high school to the roar of NFL stadiums, football captures the heart of America like no other sport.

One reason football stands out is the life lessons it teaches. Teamwork is everything. No one player, no matter how talented, can win a game alone. The offensive line protects the quarterback, the running backs rely on blocks, and every player depends on their teammates to succeed. Football also teaches discipline and hard work. Players spend hours training, practicing plays, and learning from mistakes to improve every week. It’s about pushing through challenges and showing resilience when things get tough.

What makes football even more special is the strategy involved. It’s not just about brute strength—it’s like a chess game on the field. Coaches plan every play, deciding when to pass, run, or go for it on fourth down. Defenses study their opponents, figuring out how to shut down the best players. Quarterbacks have to read the defense and adjust on the fly. It’s a mental battle as much as a physical one, and the smartest teams often come out on top.

Football also brings people together. Whether it’s families cheering in the stands, friends gathered around the TV for the Super Bowl, or teammates bonding in the locker room, the sport creates connections. It’s about community, tradition, and passion.

In the end, football is more than just touchdowns and tackles. It’s about learning to work hard, think ahead, and trust your team. Millions of people sit down to watch football every weekend in the fall season. Millions of people put money on the games and it is the spark to their day. From the tailgates to that comfy couch, at your house, football is loved and admired. Football teaches valuable lessons like having grit and how to be an honorable man or woman. That’s why football isn’t just a sport—it’s the best sport in America.

Peaky Blinders is the Best Show on Television

By: Owen Meyers

Peaky Blinders stands as one of the finest television shows of the 21st century, catching audiences with its strong storytelling, powerful performances, and rich character development. Set in post-World War I Birmingham, the series revolves around the Shelby crime family, with the uniqueTommy Shelby at its core. What truly sets Peaky Blinders apart is its ability to build together complex characters, historical events, and a deep sense of atmosphere, creating a world that feels both familiar and entirely unique.

Peaky Blinders is a remarkable show because of its characters. One of the best examples of a flawed anti-hero is Cillian Murphy’s character, Tommy Shelby. Tommy is a cunning strategist and brutal leader who is incredibly appealing due to his internal conflicts with desire, loyalty, and PTSD. Despite his frequently morally dubious choices, viewers are compelled to support him because of his complex character, which is only surpassed by his emotional sensitivity.

Supporting characters like the fierce Polly Gray (Helen McCrory), the remarkable Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson), and the fiercely independent Polly Gray bring their own distinct energy to the show, making each one unforgettable. Polly, in particular, offers a maternal yet fierce presence, contrasting Tommy’s cold pragmatism with wisdom and emotional depth. Each character’s backstory is fleshed out, giving them motivations and desires that make them feel real.

The uniqueness of Peaky Blinders lies not only in its characters but also in its ability to juxtapose historical accuracy with fictional drama. The post-war setting, the rise of fascism, and the presence of real historical figures add layers of depth to the narrative. The blending of stylish visuals, contemporary music, and raw performances makes Peaky Blinders a standout show that consistently elevates the gangster genre. It’s a masterclass in storytelling, where each character is as layered and complex as the world they inhabit.

Outer Banks

By: Owen Meyers

One of the most engaging shows on Netflix right now is Outer Banks, which has captured viewers all over the world with its exciting mix of mystery, adventure, and drama. The show provides viewers with a stunning visual experience, with golden beaches, beautiful marshes, and the deep blue waves of the Atlantic, all set against the beautiful scenery of the North Carolina coast. But the attraction extends well beyond the scene.

The exciting treasure hunt for a long-lost fortune at the center of Outer Banks has viewers on the edge of their seats. As the Pogues, a group of teenagers, search for the treasure while dodging risks at every turn, each episode is full of exciting twists and turns. It’s difficult to turn away from the action because of the high anticipation and ongoing sense of danger. Not only does the treasure search serve as a plot device, but it also generates a sense of excitement for each new episode.

The success of Outer Banks is also greatly influenced by the character dynamics. The Pogues are a group of friends from the poor side of the island, led by the outgoing John B. Their relationship is realistic, charming, and frequently humorous. Their friendship balances out all of the action and adventure by adding depth to their feelings. Also, the rivalry between the wealthier elite Kooks and Pogues offers a compelling sociological reflection on class warfare.

Outer Banks is a thrilling binge-worthy series because of its blend of adventure, strong character relationships, and stunning settings. It has become one of the most popular shows in recent years because it skillfully blends mystery, romance, and drama, providing something for everyone.

Fantasy Football Update

By: Owen Meyers

Breaking News!! Nico Collins is placed on (IR) after leaving the game in the second quarter with a (hamstring injury). He was injured during his 67 yard TD against the Bills on Sunday. This is not good for my fantasy team because he has had an outstanding  performance every week. Luckily AJ Brown is supposed to come back from a hamstring injury that happened during practice ahead of the Eagles week 2 game.

How I won in fantasy in week 5 against Cooper Scott. I started by picking up Chase Brown from the waiver wire, which gave me a solid 16.4 points. Chuba Hubbard was also a huge factor in the victory because he gave me 17.5 points. I traded for Chuba because I was in desperate need for a RB 2. Travis Kelce started off the season slow but since their WR 1 is out with a torn ACL he has been a highlight for the Chiefs offense. I drafted Kelce for my third pick and have very high expectations and it is beginning to show as we get deeper into the season. I also picked up the Commander’s defense which gave me 14 points which also led me to a victory. Even though it was a tragedy that Nico Collins got injured he gave me 15.8 in the quarter and a half he played. Younghoe Koo was also a huge factor in my win over Cooper because he put up 15 points as a kicker. David Njoku and Dontayvion Wicks were one of the key reasons why Cooper’s team lost. They combined with a total of 6.4 points and were a huge disappointment for Cooper’s team. I am on a two week win streak and hopefully my team is still on the come up because there is a 200 dollar reward on the line.

Dolphins star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffers his 3rd concussion in week 2 against the Bills. This was devastating for the Dolphins, because Tua was just coming off his first complete season without an injury. There have been serious conversations about his retirement ,but the Dolphins placed Tua on IR, leaving him 4 weeks to recover.

Broncos star linebacker Alex Singleton suffered an ACL tear during week three’s game against the Buccaneers on Sunday. This hurts the Broncos significantly as Singleton averaged 10 tackles a game in his first three games this season. Singleton tore his ACL during the 1st quarter and ended up playing the rest of the game. He reported he had soreness in his leg but that soreness ended up being a season ending injury.

Christian McCaffrey, running back for the 49ers, still suffers with a calf, achilles injury. McCaffrey is expected to miss 2 more games and maybe more.
