LaNorris Sellers is Him

By Milling Galloway

Let’s just say it loud and clear: LaNorris Sellers is HIM. Like, if you’ve watched this man play, you already know that he’s not merely good, he’s different. He’s got that special blend of talent, poise, and energy that just makes you stop whatever you are doing to watch him cook.

First of all, the arm talent is ridiculous. Guy throws lasers down the field as if it’s nothing. Off-platform, tight windows, in pressure situations, none of those things matter. He throws in ways that leave you wondering how that actually occurred. Then, just as the defense has him figured out, he trucks someone and takes off. Not only is he agile, he’s a threat in movement. But what sets LaNorris Sellers apart isn’t simply the physical skills; it’s how he conducts himself. Calm, assured, level-headed. Not too hot, not too cold. You can tell he’s made for big games. Pressure? No problem. It’s exuding “QB1 energy” every day.

Also, talk about leadership. Players gather around him. Coaches believe in him. Fans love him. There’s just something about the presence, you know, he’s going to be something special. The funny part is, he’s just getting started. We have not even seen him at his best yet, though. Give him some time, give him some practice, and then watch out. The rest of America needs to wake up because LaNorris Sellers is going to be trouble. So yeah, go ahead and remember the name. LaNorris Sellers. Star in the making. Future legend. He’s already so good it’s terrifying. This year, he has not really looked the part. The Gamecock O-line might be working at Target next week if they keep this up.  LaNorris needs to hit the draft and become a household name. If I were him, I would for sure not be a Gamecock next year.

Why Christmas Is the Best Holiday

By: Benson Elmore

Let’s be honest — every holiday has something fun about it. Halloween has candy, Thanksgiving has food, and New Year’s Eve has parties. But when it comes to pure happiness and good vibes, Christmas is the best holiday out there. Nothing else even comes close.

The Whole Vibe Is Amazing

As soon as December starts, the world feels different. The lights go up, Christmas songs play everywhere, and everything suddenly feels cozy and cheerful. You can’t help but smile when you see houses glowing with decorations or smell cookies baking in the kitchen. Christmas doesn’t just happen on one day — it’s an entire season of excitement.

It’s All About Giving

One of the best parts of Christmas is the giving. Sure, getting gifts is awesome, but giving them feels even better. There’s something really nice about finding the perfect present for someone you care about. Plus, people seem kinder this time of year — donating to charities, helping neighbors, and spreading positivity.

The Food Is Next-Level

No holiday feast beats Christmas dinner. There are cookies, hot chocolate, roast dinners, and desserts that only come around once a year. And the best part? You can start eating “Christmas food” weeks before the actual day. No one judges you for it — in fact, they’ll probably join you.

The Music Never Gets Old

Christmas music is a whole genre on its own. From Mariah Carey to Michael Bublé, these songs never fail to make you feel festive. Even if you pretend to be tired of them, once “Jingle Bell Rock” starts playing, you’re probably humming along without realizing it.

It’s Full of Memories

Christmas is also about tradition — decorating the tree, watching classic movies, and spending time with family. Every year feels a little different, but those small traditions always make it special. It’s a time when people slow down and actually enjoy being together.

At the end of the day, Christmas stands out because it brings people closer. It’s cozy, it’s joyful, and it reminds us what really matters — love, kindness, and connection. That’s why, no matter how old you get, Christmas will always be the superior holiday

Beach or Mountains

By: Adelaide Eaddy

When thinking of where to go for your next vacation, the question may come up of where to go. The common places people may choose from is the beach or mountains. When planning a trip, I would think about the months I would be going, and I would also think about what I would  be doing while being on the trip. The season would be the last thing I would rank it with while planning a trip.

When planning a vacation the first thing to think about is the time of year and what you will be doing. For the time of year, if it is in between the months of March and August I would pick the beach. If it was between the months of September and December I would pick the mountains., but if I was given the opportunity to go to a tropical beach during this time frame, I would pick the beach over the mountains. So thinking about what I want to do during these months, most of the time I would pick the beach over the mountains.

The next thing I would consider is what I would be wanting to do while there. If I wanted to have a cozy, chill vacation, I would pick the mountains, but if I wanted to relax and enjoy the sunshine, I would pick the beach. In this case I would pick the beach because I would rather sit on the beach and do nothing over sitting in the house doing nothing. So in this case, I would again pick the beach.

The last thing that I would put into consideration is what season I would be going. Spring and summer are probably the best times to go to the beach because it is getting warmer in the spring and it is definitely warm in the summer, so it would be the perfect way to relax. In the fall I would probably pick mountains because when you think of fall you don’t think of the beach you think of it getting cooler outside and the leaves changing. And lastly, for winter I would be in between the beach and mountains for where I would pick, because it would depend on where we were going. If I was given the option between going to a beach where it is cold or the mountains, I would pick the mountains, but if I was given the option between a warm beach in the winter or the mountains, I would pick the beach.

In conclusion, I would pick the beach over the mountains any day. The only day I would pick the mountains is if the beach is cold.

Is Basketball or Golf a more enjoyable sport?

By: Clark Kinney

Golf and basketball are both sports I like to participate in, but I do not play on the teams for either of them at Wilson Hall. I played basketball growing up and all the way up until high school where I made the decision to put an end to my basketball career. My brothers and parents all played basketball and my dad actually was the head basketball coach at Sumter High School and won a State Championship there in 1985. Basketball definitely runs in the family; however, Golf also runs in the family. My grandma won the South Carolina Women’s Ametuer Championship and my older brother, William plays very often and is quite good. I also really enjoy golf to the point that if golf season wasn’t the same season of baseball, I would be on the team.

Overall, watching basketball is entertaining for me, but I think you can definitely tell that the players aren’t always giving 100% effort which makes it more boring as a fan in my opinion. The NBA regular season is pretty much garbage to me because no defense is played and the players do not seem to care all that much. NBA playoffs, college basketball, and high school basketball are all fun to watch and entertaining. I find golf entertaining to watch at times. The 4 majors and very exciting and I could watch those for hours. There are also some regular PGA Tour events that are exciting like but most of them are only entertaining during the final round on Sunday.

Playing pickup basketball with your friends is very, very fun and a very good workout. One of my favorite parts of the year is on Christmas break heading up to the Sumter YMCA to play pickup basketball almost everyday. The atmosphere in high school basketball games is crazy with fans that feel like they are on top of you and student-sections chanting for their team. Despite this, I still think pickup games are more fun in my opinion, sorry Coach Rip :). Although the atmospheres aren’t the same, Golf is very entertaining to play also. The thing about golf is that people can love it and play it with their best friends for their entire life which is unique. Golf is also very addicting. You finish a round and think about what if the ball would have bounced this way or what if I would have hit this club and it just makes you want to go play again.

Due to the more consistent entertainment and longevity of the entertainment I think Golf is a more entertaining sport overall. I do think basketball has its very entertaining moments though.
