Bryant Wesco Jr. breakdown

By: Griffin Jones

Bryant Wesco Jr. is a sophomore wide receiver for the Clemson Tigers. Coming off an incredible high school career with 109 catches, 1,903 yards, and 29 touchdowns, he followed it up with a great freshman season with the Tigers. Recording 41 catches, 708 yards, and 5 touchdowns.

Coming into his sophomore year, he was seen as a superstar by many people around the country, seen as a major part of the three headed monster of the elite Clemson receiving room. Surrounded by a top 5 roster along with two other preseason All-ACC receivers, he was expected to thrive.

In the first game of the season, Clemson faced number nine ranked LSU, Wesco tracked in 4 receptions for 66 yards almost getting in the endzone in the second quarter and making a miraculous catch in the third quarter in a Clemson loss.

Coming off a disappointing loss Clemson faced a weak Troy team, with seven minutes left in the second quarter, Clemson was trailing 16-0 and Wesco hadn’t recorded a catch. In the final three quarters Bryant hauled in seven catches for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns in a comeback victory for the Tigers.

The following week versus the Yellow Jackets, Wesco had 7 catches for 126 yards and a touchdown within this was a huge 73 yard slant to the house to keep Clemson in the game in an eventual 21-24. The next week home vs Syracuse was not much of a game as the Tigers lost 34-21, although they took a L Wesco still had 6 catches for 79 yards hauling in 2 touchdowns.

The following week, the Tigers faced a horrible UNC team in which they destroyed, due to this Wesco was taken out of the game early only getting 2 catches for 42 yards. In a game versus Boston College, he bounced back with 5 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown including an incredible touchdown catch in a 41-10 win. However, in the most recent game versus SMU Bryant Wesco was returning punts as he has all year and was hit low, flipping him on his neck and tragically ending his great start to the season early. His final stats being 31 receptions for 537 yards for 6 touchdowns.

Should the Cardinals Bench Kyler Murray

By: Henry Jones

What can I even say at this point? The Cardinals are the best, worst team I have ever witnessed. We truly figure out a new way to lose every week. If you were to add up all the points we’ve lost by, it would add up to 13. 13 points! This team is tragic and I’d rather watch cheese get moldy over a period of time than watch us play in the 4th quarter. We need to fire Petzing and fire Gannon. Both of them run 4 tight end formations which makes our stud receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. look like a bum. I know he is good. Whenever I turn on the TV regardless of what day it is, I know for a fact I will be disappointed. Overall, Jacoby Brisset has been slinging it. Our offense has been more electric than I have seen in the past couple of years and I think he fits our gameplan more than Kyler. However, while this is true, I think the real problem lies with the offensive coordinator. I think with a quarterback who I believe has not reached his ceiling yet, a team needs a coordinator that can allow a quarterback as athletic as he is to spread his wings. This being said, if we were to receive an offer for Murray before the deadline that is suitable, I wouldn’t be mad. Don’t get me wrong I’m one of Kyler’s biggest supporters, but I want to see him go somewhere that fits his scheme and will allow him to ball out. I just don’t think that place is Arizona. So regarding the topic of benching, I think when he returns he should get the starting job back to prove his worth and play some winning football.

Why the Atlanta Falcons will make the playoffs

By: Griffin Jones

The Atlanta Falcons will make the playoffs this season. Following a disappointing 2024-2025 season, finishing 8-9, the Falcons went into the offseason with a few holes around the team. The defense struggled the few seasons prior, specifically the defensive line, finishing with 31 sacks the second lowest in the league.

After a great 6-3 start and a lead in their division they began to decline. Kirk Cousins, the star quarterback the Falcons signed in the offseason, showed to be too old and fragile to perform throughout the season. Despite signing a quarterback, the Falcons drafted a Quarterback 8th overall, Michael Penix, out of Washington.

Coming into the 25 season, the Falcons filled many of their holes. Although they lost some talent on defense, they had an amazing draft. Selecting two first round defenders at linebacker and edge along with two safeties later in the draft that proved to be impactful. As in the game on Sunday night vs the Vikings last week the defense recorded 2 interceptions along with 6 sacks, only allowing 6 total points.

The offense this season looks to be extremely promising this season, led by second year QB Michael Penix, along with a superstar running back Bijan Robinson and his second half at RB, Tyler Allegier. Robinson, has proved to be a top 5 back in the NFL and looks to have his best season yet not only running but catching the ball as well. For other receiving options the Falcons return two fringe 1000 yard receivers. One being star wide out, Drake London, London is a 6 ‘4 WR entering his 4th season. Finishing last year 4th in the league in receiving yards, recording 1,271 and 9 touchdowns, he is expected to take an even bigger leap this year into a true superstar. At the other WR Darnell Mooney ended his first season in Atlanta last year just shy of a one thousand yard season. The final weapon of the Atlanta offense is TE Kyle Pitts, Pitts is a monster on the field, nicknamed the Unicorn, he stands out just based off his pure size. He began his career with an outstanding rookie year in 2021 with the Falcons. However, since then it has become underwhelming to say the least. Despite that, with a new and improved QB situation, Pitts looks good and ready to produce. All this along with an extremely young core only means the future is bright.

After two games this season the Falcons stand 1-1 with a tough slate ahead including the Bills, Commanders, and 49ers. However, with a weak division and a much improved team, I believe the Falcons will finally break through and finish 10-7. Not enough to win the division but good enough for a wildcard spot.

My thoughts on football this weekend

By: Milling Galloway

What a great weekend to sit on our butts and watch some football.

There were a ton of great games and great moments in college and the NFL. I will just go ahead and name some of my top players. Justin Fields is the best quarterback in the NFL right now. He was electric and somehow lost. Plays that in the past he would never have made, he did. I will also have to say Aaron Rodgers is still that guy.  My next great take is that Josh Allen is seriously going to win the MVP again. He played the best fourth quarter of all time.

On the college level, Clemson and South Carolina both looked terrible. While teams like FSU and USF are balling out right now. Byrum Brown is a man among little boys, the way he is killing it right now.

The main takeaway we could talk about is that the Cowboys’ letting Micah Parsons leave was a horrible idea. He is the best defensive player in the league. Dak was also pretty good, making great plays. The Eagles are very good, so the Cowboys ’ loss wasn’t terrible.

Taking things back to college, let’s look at Bryce Underwood. He only had around 140 passing yards and didn’t play great. He is only a true freeshmen, so I wouldn’t freak out. His arm talent is amazing. Justice Haynes is the best player on that team. If they can’t find a pass game,  it’s gonna be a long year for the Wolverines. John Mateer and that Oklahoma offense looks strong. He has been really solid and made great throws. Although I don’t think they have really faced a challenge yet. Michigan is not amazing. Football in general looked great this weekend. I am excited to see what happens going forward. The Clemson and Georgia Tech game is going to be a great one. This upcoming weekend. Also, Carolina and Vandy will be rocking. Some exciting things are coming this next week.

NFL Super Bowl Prediction

By: Henry Jones

After a long summer break off of cranking out entertaining blogs for everyone in the digital media class, I have had time to refresh my thoughts on my ground breaking sports takes. Which means I am ready to drop more predictions on major sports events such as the Super Bowl. My first prediction of the year is a bold one. Normally I would show bias and say that the Arizona Cardinals (my favorite team) would be taking home the hardware this year, but new year new me. I do believe Cardinals have a good chance at winning the division, the offense just isn’t fully there yet. Now, there are many teams I feel have a shot at the Super Bowl this year. One is the winners of last year, the Philadelphia Eagles. They are still a very strong team despite losing key pieces on defense. Another team, as always, is the Kansas City Chiefs. In my opinion, any team with Patrick Mahomes at the helm is a Super Bowl contender cause he is a straight dog. A negative about this team is Travis Kelce recently getting engaged to that witch, Taylor Swift. Whenever they started dating she stole all his talent and turned him into some hermit crab. Finally, I truly believe that the New York Jets have a real shot this year at the Super Bowl. They have two up and coming offensive linemen and two stud running backs. Also with the addition of Justin Fields they have very solid quarterback play that they haven’t had in multiple years. In conclusion, with the adding of all these new, young pieces, I’d be willing to bet the life of Milling Galloway that the Jets will be taking home the gold this year. This is easy money.

Prize Picks lines I would always choose if my life depended on it!

By Milling Galloway

Prize Picks is one of the best and worst ways to make money. If you’re a genius like me, you would understand how to make that bread. There are always some lines that are destined to hit. LaNorris Sellers is my number one. Every single time he hits. He can run and throw. I would not take the passing touchdowns, but everything else is golden. He’s just a beast, so unless Vegas changes the lines, I would always put over.

My next guy is Jahmyr Gibbs. He is truly one of a kind. His speed and athleticism just stand out compared to other backs in the league. Receiving yards and rushing yards hit with this guy. There is nothing he can not do. My third stud on the list has to be Lamine Yamal. He does not always hit on goals, but he rips shots. He loves to cut on that left foot and take a chance. Defenders can not find an answer for the 18-year-old wonder kid. Even though the lines might be set high, he finds a way to shoot and shoot more. He is third because other lines, he is not always fully consistent. My next guy has to be the best quarterback in the NFL. Justin ‘Him’ Fields. What a beast. This dude is always making highlight plays and beating Vegas. He can throw and take off, and run. He is very consistent, and it shows. Now that he is a Jet and is the main guy, he will cause some havoc this year for sure. I see a big year ahead of him. With my last choice I will have to say John Rahm. The guy is a dumpster fire waiting to fail. The only time he did ok was one tournament. Everytime he plays PGA he can’t do anything right. When he is playing on LIV I would not risk it. When he gets in front of the big stage he is destined to fail.

Super Bowl Review

By: Knox Buxton

This year’s Super Bowl was a rematch from 2023 between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs were comin off of back to back Super Bowl wins against Philadelphia and San Francisco. Everyone I had talked to about the Super Bowl this year said they thought the Chiefs were going to get it, especially after going 15-2 in the regular season. I called the Super Bowl back at the beginning of the season and said it would be Philiadelphia and Kansas City and Philadelphia would win. I knew once the Eagles added Saquon Barkley and having one of the best defenses in the league, they had too many weapons. The game started out with both teams being forced to punt. The Eagles got on the board first with a tush push touchdown by Jalen Hurts. A few drives later, Jalen Hurts threw an interception and that is when I thought the Chiefs would start heating up and make it an entertaining game to watch, but I was wrong. Philadelphia forced a three and out and then Jalen Hurts hooked up with AJ Brown for a long passing play and it ended up with the Eagles scoring a field goal to go up ten to nothing. The next drive, Patrick Mahomes threw a pick six to rookie cornerback, Cooper Dejean. Once the Eagles took a seventeen to nothing lead and looked unstoppable, I knew it would be hard for the Chiefs to come back. Right before halftime, Patrick Mahomes threw another interception to Zack Baun on their own side of the field and it led to an AJ Brown receiving touchdown. When the Eagles went up 24-0 at halftime, I knew the game was just about over. The Eagles were dominating every aspect of the game and pressuring Mahomes consistently. The second half was really just more of the same with Philadelphia taking a 34-0 lead before the Chiefs started padding the stats. Kansas City’s last second stat padding was made them able to make the game a little closer before losing 40-22. Jalen Hurts won the Super Bowl Most Valuable Player even though I thought there were a lot of Eagle player that I thought deserved it. In my opinion, I would have just given it to the whole defensive line after how they got after Patrick Mahomes and forced him into making bad plays. I sincerely enjoyed watching the Eagles Beat down the Chiefs and showing everyone Kansas City isn’t all that.

WHY THE EAGLES?

By: Carson Wilsey

The Philadelphia Eagles are making their return, and they appear ready to win, so this year’s Super Bowl showdown is sure to be thrilling. The Eagles’ strong and well-rounded roster has been on full display throughout the season. With both his arm and his legs, quarterback Jalen Hurts has shown himself to be one of the league’s most dynamic athletes. Hurts has provided the Eagles an advantage that other teams have found difficult to match because of his ability to prolong plays and make critical decisions under stress. The Eagles are among the most powerful teams in the NFL in a significant way because of Hurts’ athleticism, poise, and development as a passer.

The Eagles’ defense, in addition to Hurts, is a key component of their chances of winning the Super Bowl. With exceptional players such as Jordan Davis,a beast of a d-lineman, among their roster, the team has an intimidating defensive line. One of the Eagles’ greatest strengths this season has been their ability to consistently put pressure on opposing quarterbacks, and this ability will be vital in the Super Bowl. Additionally, their defense is excellent at stopping the run and covering passes, which makes it hard for opponents to establish a rhythm. Philadelphia’s defense will be difficult for any offense to overcome because of its strong blend of youthful energy and experience, which enables them to contain some of the most electric teams.

The Eagles, led by head coach Nick Sirianni, are a well-coached group in addition to having outstanding athletic ability on the field. Sirianni has continuously placed his players in successful situations and demonstrated remarkable game management abilities, because of his innovative and flexible playcalling, the Eagles have been able to succeed in a variety of offensive and defensive schemes. Sirianni’s ability to remain composed under pressure will be essential during the Super Bowl, and his leadership has helped his players perform at their highest level. The Eagles are ready for victory because they have a quality squad, excellent coaching, and the capacity to perform well under pressure. They are destine to take down the Cheifs and end their hope at a three peatnin this year’s Super Bowl because of their  well-balanced roster and outstanding coaching.

Who Will Win the Super Bowl

By: Stirling Tindal

The 56th Super Bowl is this Sunday and the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are sitting at a record of 14-3 and have by far the best running back in the league. The Chiefs have a 15-2 record and really don’t have any outstanding players this year, but Patrick Mahomes and Andy Ried always find a way to win games.

I believe that this will be a close game with a higher score because of both teams’ explosive offenses. By the end of the first quarter I predict that the score will be 10-7 Eagles. Saquon will start off hot because the Chiefs won’t fully know how to stop him; however after the first quarter they will figure things out.

At half time it will be tied 17-17 with the second quarter ending with a last second Chiefs field goal. Both teams will have a great first half with many yards on offense. The key to winning the second half is who is disciplined enough to stop either of these offenses consistently.

Entering the third quarter, I believe that whichever team receives the ball will have a huge turnover in the red zone on the opening drive. It won’t be a super thrilling third quarter and the score will be 24-17 Chiefs. At this point Andy Reid will have figured out how to stop Saquon, getting rid of the Eagles X-factor. With our Saquon controlling the game, the Eagles won’t be able to get anything going.

In the fourth quarter, the key to winning the game will be turnovers. Both teams will need to hold on to the ball and not make dumb decisions. The game will most certainly come down to the wire. I predict there will be two touchdown scoring drives by both teams in the final two minutes. The Chiefs will have the first touchdown in the two minutes, thinking they can hold on to the lead. Jalen Hurts will then lead the Eagles offense down the field in a final 30 seconds drive to win the game 34-31.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will not be able to three-peat and Jalen Hurts and the Eagles will start a new dynasty.

Super Bowl Predictions

By: Cooper Scott

My Super Bowl predictions are the Chiefs are going to beat Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, also predict some of the betting lines. The first betting line is that the national anthem will go under 2 minutes. The opening kickoff will be a touchback. Taylor Swift will be shown on camera more than 4 times. I will also predict that the eagles will get the ball first. The first quarter on the opening drive of the game after the eagles get two first downs Jalen Hurts will throw an interception to Trent Mcduffie on the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes will get his first drive of the Super Bowl and take his team down the field and Harrison Butker will kick a field goal and make it. The eagles will get on offense once again and Jalen Hurts is going to throw a Touchdown pass to Devonta smith. The Chiefs are going to go three and out and that is the end of the first quarter. On the Eagles opening Drive of the second quarter Saquon is going to tote the rock all the way down the field and the Eagles will settle for a field goal. So with 9 minutes to go in the 2nd Quarter the score is Eagles 10 Chiefs 3. The Chiefs are going to have a long drive all the way down the field and will score a touchdown with Travis Kelce. Jalen Hurts will have 2 minutes and is going to go down the field and the eagles will settle for a field goal. The score at halftime will be 10- 13 Eagles. The opening drive of the third quarter the chiefs are going to go all the down the field and score a touchdown with Isiah Pacheco. The Eagles are going to throw an interception, and the and the chiefs are going get a field goal and go up 20 to 13. The Eagles are going to go three and out, and the chiefs are going to throw an interception, and there will be a big momentum swing. Saquon Barkely breaks a 40 yard touchdown run and that’s the end of the 3rd quarter. Both the Chiefs and Eagles next drives end with a three and out, and the Chiefs get the ball and Xavier Worthy scores a touchdown ,and the Eagles will get a field goal. So with 5 minutes left the score is 30-27 the eagles. The Chiefs will get the ball and come to a 4th and 11 and throw up a deep ball and get a pass interference. Patrick Mahomes will run for a touchdown and the Chiefs will go up 34-30. Jalen Hurts will choke and throw an interception and the Chiefs will win the Superbowl.
