Rating Seasons

  1. Summer

Summer has to be the best season because there is no school. The weather is hot and it is the perfect time for going to the beach and vacations. The beach is definitely my favorite place to go, and I have a permanent tan for 3 months. Also, the 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays. I can hang out with my friends a lot more during the week, and I don’t have to worry about school or homework. I do have painting for cheer, though, but it allows me to see my friends and doesn’t last but 2 hours in the morning. I also love spending time on the lake and going boating, and playing pickleball with friends.

  1. Fall

Although it’s the beginning of the school year, fall has the best sports. Football season is the best time of year, and you always have something to look forward to during the weekends. Cheering for football is one of my favorite things, and we organize fun pep rallies. The weather is not too hot and not too cold, and all the trees are turning different colors. It is also Halloween and Thanksgiving. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I have a tradition of going to Kreepy Hallow every year with my friends. I usually go to the mountains with family for Thanksgiving, so it is a good time to gather with family and friends.

  1. Winter

Although it is cold out, winter has some great seasons. Christmas is my favorite season because we get to celebrate Jesus’s birth with friends and family, and we get Christmas break. New Year’s is also one of my favorites because we get a fresh start, and I always spend New Year’s Eve with my friends. It brings me so much joy to see Christmas decorations and go look at Christmas lights. It is also my birthday in the wintertime. And if we are lucky, Sumter may get some snow.

  1. Spring

I don’t enjoy spring that much. Everyone is ready to get out of school and there aren’t really any exciting sports to watch besides baseball. I usually am sick all season because of the pollen. The only thing that is good about spring to me is Spring Break, and it starts to warm up some. Also, it’s not daylight savings anymore.

Snow Day

By: Logan Mims

For this week’s blog I will be writing about the snow day.  Since I live in Sumter, South Carolina, snow days are very few and far between. But when we do get a snow day, it is always so exciting and I can not wait to get out and play in the snow. The week prior the weather was saying we were going to have snow, but it ended up just being sleet so I was not very hopeful for this time either.

During school I was in fifth period and I looked outside and it was actually snowing real snowflakes, not just sleet like the week before. I was so excited. It was later in the afternoon and I just got out of basketball practice and I realized that the snow was not really sticking so I did not really expect anything exciting.

It was that night and I looked outside and snow was completely pouring down and it was piling up everywhere and it was actually sticking to the ground. I could not believe it.

I had my best friend over to spend the night and we got to stay up late watching shows on the TV because we knew we could sleep in the next day. I woke up around 9 AM and looked outside to see that snow was everywhere, at least 2 inches. I really could not believe it. I went back to sleep for a few hours and woke back up around 11 and my friend and I got dressed in warm clothes and went out to play in the snow. We ended up going to our family friend’s farm where we went sledding and rode the Ranger. It was completely freezing, but it was still so much fun. We were out there for a few hours until the snow began to melt and then we came home. My mom had made a soup so whe ate that and then we watched a movie to end the night.

Ranking the Seasons: Winter

By: Alexis Dawkins

Winter is my least favorite time of year. Being cold is the worst thing on the planet, but a few good things can come from winter. To start off, there is Christmas. Even though I hate winter, Christmas is the best time of year. Having time with family and getting gifts: what could be better? Santa comes for the kids, and they have the best time setting up cookies and milk for him. Then there is New Years. This is a monumental time every year because we end one year and start a new one. Everyone tries to make new year resolutions but we all know how those go. A month into the year and a majority of people have forgotten about them.

Valentine’s day also is in the winter. February 14th is the day that couples love. Everyone giving out chocolate and flowers and stuffed animals is a big part of Valentine’s day. Sometimes, depending on where you are, it may snow. Not in Sumter but in a lot of places it may snow a few feet. If it does snow then it is a great time for friends and family to get together and play outside. Even if you live in South Carolina where it doesn’t snow you can go places like Virginia and go snowboarding and snow skiing. This is a great way for families to bond and make memories that last a lifetime.

This also is the time for basketball season for all the basketball lovers out there. The winter is the best time to have bonfires too. They can be fun in the summer but they are better in the winter because they heat you up in the cold of the winter.

Even though I do not like winter, it is still a fun time of year for those who do like the cold.
