Spirit week is one of the most exciting weeks of the school year because it gives students a chance to show off their school spirit, get creative with their outfits, and have fun dressing up. However, some spirit days are definitely better than others. While some things allow students to show off their creativity, others can be repetitive and require very little effort. Here is my ranking of the top five spirit weekdays this year, starting from least favorite to favorite.
Coming in at number five is lights out. This one was very simple because everyone just had to wear black. Since we also had homecoming shirts, there was not a lot of effort needed to participate. Although it was easy, most people looked very similar, which made the day less exciting. At number four is jersey day. While wearing your favorite sports jersey can be fun, there was not much diversity in the outfit. Most people wore jerseys from their favorite teams, so there was not a lot of creativity or variety to make the day stand out. In third place is holidays. This theme had potential to be exciting because there are so many holidays to choose from, but we do this theme every year and see the same outfits over and over again causing it to become boring after a while. Lots of effort was put in, but a lot of the outfits looked the same.
My second favorite day was the age reverse. This theme was hilarious because the seniors dressed as babies while the freshman dressed as old people. It was funny to see the oldest and youngest grade completely switch roles for the day. However, the grades in between had to dress as teenagers and middle aged, which kept them from putting in a ton of effort, keeping this from first place. Finally, my favorite was group day. This day had the most creativity because students had to agree on a costume for their friend group. Some groups put in a lot of effort and it was fun to see what different group themes were. Unlike other days, group day allows students to think outside the box and show off their personalities. Overall, well, every spirit day added something fun to the week, group day was my favorite because of the creativity and teamwork it brought out in the students.
